WhatsApp Business

The WhatsApp Business integration lets you chat with your leads directly from Tripdocks using your existing WhatsApp Business number. Inbound messages from leads automatically open a conversation thread in the CRM, and your team can reply without leaving Tripdocks.

You can connect multiple WhatsApp Business numbers to a single company account and optionally route each number to a specific team.

Supported Providers

Tripdocks connects to WhatsApp via three providers. Choose the one your business already uses, or sign up for one:

ProviderBest for
Meta Cloud APIBusinesses that manage their own WhatsApp Business Platform account directly through Meta
AiSensyBusinesses using AiSensy as their BSP (Business Solution Provider)
GupshupBusinesses using Gupshup as their BSP

Step 1 — Open the WhatsApp Integration Settings

  1. In Tripdocks, go to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Find the WhatsApp Business card and click Manage (or Set Up if this is your first number).
  3. Click Add Number to begin connecting a business number.

Step 2 — Enter Your Provider Credentials

Select your provider and fill in the credentials it requires:

Meta Cloud API

You’ll need the following from your Meta Developer App:

  • Phone Number ID — Found under your WhatsApp Business Platform app > API Setup.
  • WhatsApp Business Account ID (WABA ID) — Found in the same section.
  • Permanent Access Token — Generate a System User token in Business Settings > System Users with the whatsapp_business_messaging permission. We recommend a permanent token (not a temporary one that expires).
  • Phone Number — The E.164 formatted number, e.g. +919876543210.

AiSensy

  • API Key — Found in your AiSensy dashboard under Developer Settings.
  • Phone Number — Your AiSensy-registered business number in E.164 format.

Gupshup

  • API Key — Found in your Gupshup dashboard under Account Settings.
  • App Name — Your Gupshup app name (used to identify the sender).
  • Phone Number — Your Gupshup-registered business number in E.164 format.

Step 3 — Configure the Webhook at Your Provider

After saving your credentials, Tripdocks will display a Webhook URL unique to this number. You need to register this URL with your provider so that inbound messages and status updates are forwarded to Tripdocks.

Meta Cloud API

  1. In your Meta Developer App, go to WhatsApp > Configuration.
  2. Under Webhook, click Edit and enter the Webhook URL shown in Tripdocks.
  3. For the Verify Token, enter any string you like — Tripdocks accepts any value here.
  4. Click Verify and Save.
  5. Under Webhook Fields, enable:
    • messages
    • message_status_updates (optional, for delivery receipts)

AiSensy

  1. In your AiSensy dashboard, go to Settings > Webhook.
  2. Paste the Webhook URL from Tripdocks into the webhook endpoint field and save.

Gupshup

  1. In your Gupshup dashboard, open your app and go to Settings > Webhook.
  2. Paste the Webhook URL from Tripdocks and save.

Step 4 — Assign a Team (Optional)

If you have multiple teams in Tripdocks, you can route this WhatsApp number to a specific team. When a new conversation comes in on this number, it will be visible to members of the assigned team by default.

Leave this blank to make the number available to all teams.

Step 5 — Activate the Number

Toggle the number to Active and save. Tripdocks will now start receiving inbound messages on this number.

How It Works

Inbound Messages

When a lead sends a WhatsApp message to your business number:

  1. Your provider forwards the message to Tripdocks via the webhook.
  2. Tripdocks finds or creates a conversation thread for that lead.
  3. If no lead record exists for that phone number, a new lead is created automatically.
  4. Your team sees the conversation appear in real time in the Chat section — no page refresh needed.

Outbound Messages

To send a message to a lead:

  1. Open the lead’s profile or go to Chat.
  2. Select the conversation and type your message.
  3. Click Send. Tripdocks routes it through the connected provider to the lead’s phone.

24-hour rule: WhatsApp restricts outbound messages to conversations that had inbound activity within the last 24 hours. Outside this window, you must send a pre-approved template message. Template message support is coming soon.

Message Delivery Status

For providers that support it (Meta Cloud API), Tripdocks shows delivery and read receipts inline in the conversation thread.

Managing Multiple Numbers

You can connect as many business numbers as needed — for example, one per regional office, or one per team. Each number is configured independently and can use a different provider.

To add another number, go to Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp Business and click Add Number.

Disconnecting a Number

To remove a number, open its settings in Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp Business, scroll to the bottom, and click Remove. This deletes the number’s configuration and webhook from Tripdocks. Existing conversation history is preserved but the number will no longer receive messages.
